About this place
Just steps from Tsukiji Station, Sushizanmai offers a casual setting where diners can watch chefs craft sushi across the counter. The space also includes table seating, lending it an easygoing atmosphere that works well whether you are dropping in solo for a quick bite or sitting down with a group.
Pacific bluefin tuna takes center stage on the menu. Diners can select their preferred cuts by the individual piece, including lean akami, medium-fatty chutoro, rich otoro, lightly seared aburi-toro, and the prized kamatoro collar cut. For a more indulgent meal, generous sets such as the Gokujo Maguro Zanmai and Maguro Zanmai come with a large daimyo-wan soup and feature a spread of otoro, chutoro, negitoro gunkan, and tekka maki rolls all at once.
During lunch hours, the weekday-only specials are especially worth keeping in mind. Options like the Kasumi, a generous 1.5-portion platter, and the single-portion Tsubomi both come with chawanmushi savory egg custard and soup, alongside value-minded selections such as the manager's recommended rice bowl to satisfy mid-workday appetites.
Beyond nigiri, the kitchen prepares cooked dishes such as grilled tuna tail skewers, silver cod marinated in Saikyo miso, and deep-fried fugu blowfish. Paired with house-brand Daiki Gin junmai ginjo sake or a draft beer, these savory plates make the restaurant just as practical for an evening drink as for a casual sushi meal.
